Sales are always enticing! Trust me I know I have been pulled into the discount sales tactics multiple times. But we have to approach some sales with caution. Here are a few tips to help you out.

Just because something says 30% off doesn't mean it is!

I know the lies right!!!

But yes sometimes they raise the price and then put the item on sale to get more orders without losing out on profits.

The best way to know this is to use the Honey app or extension. (No this is not sponsored by Honey) This is something I genuinely use and love.

I use it all the time as a way to find coupon codes for items. But it helps with so much more than that. You can set up alerts for items you want to buy as well. Say you want to buy a new Stanley but would rather wait for it to be on sale Honey will alert you when the price drops.

While I am on Amazon I get little notifications like this, that alerts me of price drops or price change within the last 30 days.

When I click on view price history I can see all of the prices the item has been listed at well beyond 30 days.

Just like this you can see how much the price has changed and decide if you are buying at a good price. As you can see this sweater normally goes on sale for this price. I have seen many items that show a 40% sale but when I look at the chart the sale price is not much different from the original price. Instead, they raised their original price and then added a discount to make it look like you are getting a good deal.

I also love that it automatically checks other stores for you as well. Sometimes I just assume that Amazon has the best price. But that's not always the case! Honey checks to make sure that you are buying it from the right store.
